INDIAN SOCIETY OF WOUND MANAGEMENT

Welcome to the Indian Society of Wound Management.

Indian Society of Wound Management (ISWM) was established in September 1996. ISWM aims to bring together clinicians and practitioners of varied field with a common interest in wound healing. It comprises of physicians, surgeons (general, plastic and orthopaedics surgeons), diabetologists, dermatologist, nurses and basic scientists.

The Society also sets out to raise awareness about the need for multidisciplinary approach. Its ultimate goal is to establish wound-care centres with state-of-the-art clinical and research facilities. Due to its efforts, dedicated wound clinics have been created in the teaching hospitals at Varanasi, Chennai, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi and Chandigarh. Presently ISWM has over 150 life members.

The official journal of the ISWM is Indian Journal of Wound Management.

Achievements

ISWM held a symposium “Wound management in the twenty first century”, at the annual conference of Association of Surgeons of India at Varanasi, India in 2006.

Every year ISWM holds its annual conference, which is widely attended by physicians, nurses, surgeons, medical and nursing students. The XVI Annual conference of Indian Society of Wound Management (WOUNDCON-2013) was held at the Government Medical College and Hospital, Chandigarh on November 23-24, 2013, which was attended by more than 200 delegates.

The XVII Annual Conference of Indian Society of Wound Management (Woundcon-2014) will be held at Dr. D.Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital and Research Center, Pune on 6th and 7th December, 2014.
